I hope you are all having an amazing week!

Please make sure you look over the 'take home' folder every night!

Read with your child and fill in how many minutes they read. They need to be reading at least 20 minutes a night (for four nights: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). If you have a busy night you can choose to read 40 minutes the next night to make up for it.

In addition, your child needs to work with the spelling words at least 3 times a week. After choosing an option from the 'August/ September Spelling Menu' be sure to sign in their folder that the task was completed. Students will receive a grade based on completion of spelling homework. The spelling tests are on Fridays!

Also, make sure they complete their math problem for the evening!

Homework should not take your child more than 45-50 minutes a night. If you have a problem, please communicate with us!

Students who complete both their homework will get their homework card punched so that they can attend a team lunch party! If their homework is not completed each week, they will finish it during Fun Friday recess time.

Homework and Folders

Your students should be reading for 20 minutes a night and they have math homework on Mon., Tues., Thurs. nights. They will get to go to a class party if they do their homework, so please encourage them to complete it!

Thank you,

No homework this week!

There is no homework for the first week of school! We are working on procedures and getting things down in the classroom and then next week homework will be assigned. Starting tomorrow there will be one sentence written telling something learned that day. Under that, will be where you will sign. We are having a great start to the year :)

First day

We had a great first day of school! In this picture, I had students squeeze out an entire tube of toothpaste and then told them to put it all back in the tube. After letting them struggle through it, we talked about the point of the activity. The point is that when you say mean words or make fun of people, no matter how hard you try, you can never fully take it back. Be sure to talk with your child about this, as they are at an age where it is easy to be hurtful towards others. It was a great first day! - Mrs Van Sandt

Welcome to 4th Grade!

We are so excited to welcome our new students to the Growing Scholars Team. This year is going to be a year in which your child will grow academically, socially, and will become much more independent.
This year in math we will explore many different topics such as fractions, multiplication, division, and decimals. Your student will have math homework on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday nights. It should take a maximum of 30 minutes, and it is expected for students to complete it on time.
In Language Arts, your student will have reading every night, as well as some spelling homework. The policy of homework is that if your student does not complete his/her homework, they will move their color, as well as complete their homework during recess. We are counting on your help in pushing your child to success!
We will have a wonderful year and your student will be well taken care of :)
